1960~70년대 사인의 추억 되새기는 기회

아무렇게나 그린듯하지만 정감 느껴지는 막간판

 

목재 패널이나 출입문에 글씨만 써도 간판이 되던 그 시절 사인을 볼 수 있다.

 

이색 체험 전시회인 ‘학교종이 땡땡땡’이 지난 7월 29일을 시작으로 오는 8월 29일까지 한달간 고양시 킨텍스(한국국제전시장)에서 열리고 있다.

 

광복 60주년 기념으로 마련된 이번 전시회에서는 전체 면적 1,500여 평에 당시의 학교, 운동장 등 모든 시설을 영화 세트장처럼 꾸며놓아 많은 볼거리들을 제공함과 동시에 방문객이 진열된 작품을 만져보고 온 가족이 그 당시 생활을 그대로 느낄 수 있는 체험전으로 꾸며져 시작부터 눈길을 끌었다.

 

가난했던 1960년~70년대 문방구, 구멍가게, 오락실, 만화방 등 학교 주변 거리풍경도 그 시절 그대로의 모습으로 재현돼 있는데 그 시대 상황을 보다 현실감 있게 만들어주는 옛 간판들이 특히 볼만하다. 

 

간판이라고 해봤자 실사 출력한 사인이 아닌 수작업을 한 화공간판과 간판을 할 돈이 없어 아무렇게나 출입문 위에 쓴 글씨가(간판이라고 할 수도 없지만) 대부분이다.

 

이들 간판은 지금의 옥외광고물 같은 세련되고 멋진 모습은 아니지만 나름대로의 정감이 넘친다. 

 

그 시대 소위 ‘간판장이’라 불리던 이들의 땀과 노력이 그대로 묻어나 아련함마저 느끼게 하기 때문. 과거가 있기에 현재가 있는 법! 사인에 종사하는 사람이라면 한번 쯤 시간을 내 찾아가 추억의 사인 속으로 여행을 떠나 보는 건 어떨까.
